Prize Setup (Manual, Codes & Barcodes)
How to Set Up Prizes in Scratcher
When creating campaigns in the Scratcher platform, setting up prizes is a key part of your campaign flow. This guide walks you through the different options and settings available when creating and managing prizes.
When you open a campaign, the campaign's game page (Game) has a prize-related setup connected to it in the dropdown menu. Here, you can create and manage prizes for the specific game type used in the campaign. If your campaign contains multiple games, each game will have its own prize setup listed beneath the corresponding game in the dropdown menu.

Accessing Prize Settings
Inside your campaign:
- Navigate to your campaign flow.
- Select the relevant element (game set, site, page, or slice).
- Click the small arrow dropdown.
- Choose “Add Prize”.

From here, you can either:
- Create a new prize
- Copy an existing prize (recommended if you want consistency—just remember to check and maybe update the details)

Creating a Prize
When setting up a prize, you’ll configure the following:
Basic Information (this information will reflect in the dynamic_tags on the prize page)
- Name (required)
- Description (optional)
- Image (use PNG for transparent backgrounds on prize pages)
- Value (e.g. monetary or perceived value)
- Link (optional – can be opened in a new tab)
Quantity
Define how many prizes are available:
- Set a fixed number
- Or choose unlimited (use carefully if participation is high)
Winning Chance
- Defined between 0.0% and 100%
- The total probability across all prizes should make sense
- If you have a “no prize” outcome, ensure the distribution reflects realistic odds

Prize Types
Discount Codes
You can choose between:
- Fixed code (same code for all winners)
- Unique codes (one-time use per participant)
Codes can be uploaded or generated directly.
Using Unique Codes
When you have created a prize and open it for editing, you can select Unique Codes as the code type. From here, click Manage Codes to view all codes currently associated with the campaign. If no codes have been added yet, go to the Add section. You can upload codes using a CSV file. It is important that:
- The file is in CSV format
- All codes are placed in column A only
- The file contains codes only (no headers, names, or additional data)
Alternatively, codes can be added manually, but this can be time-consuming for large volumes. If you are unsure how to prepare or upload your codes, please contact a Scratcher representative for assistance.

Barcodes
Used primarily for physical store redemption:
- Also available as fixed or unique codes
- Can be customized and named accordingly
Additional Settings

- Enable email notifications on win if you need manual handling

Disable Prize
- Prevents the prize from being won (useful for testing or phasing out rewards)
Pro Add-ons

- Commonly used for events or conventions

Setting Up Draws
You can also create draw-based prizes:
Setup Options
- Create new or copy existing draw
- Configure:
- Name
- Description
- Image
- Value
- Link
- Quantity
Automatic Draws
- Enable automatic draw execution (or leave it to be manually) - remember that the system can't differentiate between the points, so we suggest manually (if it should be the highest score etc.)
- Define a time period for when winners are selected
- If disabled, draws must be handled manually

Handling Draws
If your draw is set to manual, go to your dashboard when the campaign ends. Click the small statistics icon in the top right corner.
- Open the overview and navigate to Participants.
- Click Export and send the file to your email.
- You do not need to fill out any fields to get the full overview.
If your draw is handled automatically by the system, go to Prizes.

- Click Draw Winner.
- Select the relevant prize from the dropdown or choose to draw for all prizes.
- You can filter by participation date if needed.
- Click to draw the winner, and the system will select it for you.
From there, you can decide how to proceed with the winner.
Prize Page & User Experience
If you’re not using custom pages in your flow:
- You must design the prize page manually
Consider:
- Will users redeem physically (e.g. show their screen)?
- Or via email confirmation?
Make sure the process is:
- Clear
- Easy to follow
- Consistent with your campaign setup
If you want to manage your pages—for example, to set up a No Prize Page using either the shared page or a custom page you've created—you can do so by clicking Manage.
From there, go to Settings or Manage Add-ons. Under Custom, you'll find the available page options, including No Prize Page, along with the other page types that can be configured for your campaign.

Key Takeaway
Always define:
- How prizes are distributed
- How they are redeemed
- Whether the process is manual or automated
