Battle Campaign Setup

What a Battle Campaign Can Be Used For

A Battle Campaign allows users to choose between two competing options in a head-to-head format. It is a simple yet engaging way to: Drive interaction, capture preferences, and create a sense of competition between choices. Results can be displayed instantly or after the campaign ends, depending on your setup.

Setting Up the Campaign

To create a Battle Campaign:

  • Open your campaign
  • Select the Battle** game**

đź’ˇ We recommend starting with an existing design kit, then customizing the content and layout.

Step 1: Create Your Campaign

Create a new campaign and enter the campaign flow. Then:

  • Go to the page containing your game
  • Navigate to Game
  • Click the green button to open the **Quiz Manager / Edit Battle **
  • Click Edit Battle to access the game settings

Step 2: Configure Quiz Manager Settings

In the Quiz Manager, you can enable key game behaviors:

  • Allow users to go back to previous questions
  • Display text after an answer is selected
  • Use after answers rich text
  • Click button to continue
  • Show previous button
  • Enable groups
  • Instant Win

These settings define how users interact with the quiz flow.

Step 3: Create Questions

To build your quiz content:

  • Click Edit Battle → New Question
  • Add a question name and description
  • Select an answer by text or image (typically image in this context)
  • Use question image
  • Use question video
  • Use advanced editor
  • Allow multiple aswers
  • Show text below image
  • Show button below image
  • Enable active period

Step 4: Result Page(s) Setup

Single Result Page

A single result page means that all users are directed to the same page after completing the quiz - and this is the case in this game. This in terms of showing a final outcome based on the battle:

Custom Pages (Optional)

Instead of showing a standard result page, you can use a Custom Page to redirect users to another destination.
Custom Pages are often used for:

  • Reward experiences
  • External landing pages
  • Other games or campaign flows
  • Special outcomes (e.g. perfect score redirects)

This is useful when the result should lead into a separate experience rather than a standard result screen.

Result page with products

It is important to be aware that when setting up a Battle campaign—especially when products are involved—you need to add the relevant products via Add-ons and Products. This ensures that the correct items are included in the campaign and properly displayed.

You should also go into the Edit Battle and define a clear Internal Name for each item. This is important for data tracking and reporting, as it determines how results will appear when you export or analyze the data.

Without properly setting an Internal Name, you will not be able to identify individual results in the data export. Instead, only aggregated or general outcomes will be shown, without any clear breakdown of what each result represents.

Prize Logic in Quizzes

In most quiz setups, prizes are not directly tied to result pages. Instead, a draw system is typically used.

How the draw system works
  • Winners are selected after the quiz is completed
  • Selection is based on rules such as points, correct answers, or participation
  • The draw is separate from the result page logic

This means:

  • Result pages are used for feedback and content
  • Prizes are handled separately through a draw or prize system

Quiz flows are primarily designed for engagement, learning, or segmentation. Because of this, prizes are usually handled separately from result pages to ensure flexibility and control. For advanced setups or custom logic, it is recommended to contact Scratcher for guidance to ensure correct configuration.

Step 5: Styling & Design

When working with quizzes and guides in Scratcher, you need to go into the Game section and open Content.
Inside the Content section, you will typically find three dropdowns (sometimes four, depending on the setup). These are:

  • Questions
  • Answers
  • Results

These dropdowns are structured according to the page you are currently working on within the quiz flow.

Questions

The Questions section is typically used for styling elements such as fonts and colors for question headings. These settings apply across the entire quiz flow.

Answer images

To adjust the sizing of the images.

Answers

The Answers section controls the styling of the answer options shown to users throughout the quiz, from start to finish.

Results

The Results section is used to style the actual result pages when using the built-in quiz result page setup.

Custom Pages

It is important to note that you can also use a Custom Page when working with quizzes. This means you are not limited to using the default result page setup in terms of the styling. If you choose to use a Custom Page, you can configure this directly in the quiz editor:

  • Go to Edit Quiz
  • Open Result Pages
  • Set up a redirect to the Custom Page used in your campaign flow

This allows you to bypass the standard result page setup and gives you more flexibility in how the final experience is structured.

Settings

In the Settings, next to Content, you can define how results are displayed:

  • Turn on **Advanced, **then 'Show battle images vertically'

Game Data

You get a full overview of participants and campaign performance:

  • What each user answered
  • Remember to use specific product naming for seeing this clearly in your data

This data is available for analysis and export. Both questions and user answers are included.
