Gift Surprise / Mystery Box

Gift Surprise/ Mystery Box Setup

What a Mystery Box Game Can Be Used For

A Mystery Box game is an interactive experience where users open a virtual box to reveal a hidden surprise. It builds curiosity and excitement through a simple “what’s inside?” mechanic. It is ideal for:

  • Engagement and awareness campaigns
  • Discovery-driven experiences
  • Product or offer reveals
  • Lead generation and participation-based campaigns

Difference Between Mystery Box and Gift Surprise

The Mystery Box focuses on curiosity and suspense—users don’t know what they’ll get until they open it. The Gift Surprise is more about feel-good moments, often tied to seasonal campaigns where users receive something nice with a light element of surprise. Both are effective—the choice depends on whether you want to emphasise:

  • Curiosity (Mystery Box)
  • Gifting (Gift Surprise)

Setting Up the Game

To set up a Mystery Box campaign:

  • Open your campaign
  • Select the Mystery Box game

From here, you can:

  • Add images
  • Configure outcomes
  • Customise the design

💡 We recommend reusing an existing design kit and adjusting visuals and prizes to match your campaign.

Game Layout Settings

Go to Settings to configure:

  • Number of boxes
  • Number of rows

Image Setup

You have two options:

Same Image for All Boxes

You can use one:

  • Icon
  • Product
  • Image

This will appear in all boxes.

Different Images per Box

You can toggle this option off to:

  • Upload unique images for each box

Layout Customisation

You can adjust:

  • Overall game width
  • Spacing (gap) between boxes

This helps you fine-tune the visual layout.

Background

You can upload a background image to appear behind the boxes.
This allows you to:

  • Match your brand identity
  • Create a more immersive experience

Effects & Animation

In the Effects section, you can add animations to enhance interactivity.

💡 Recommended: Shuffle Boxes → adds subtle movement/shake to increase engagement

Prize & Outcome Logic (Important)

You must define clear outcomes for the experience.
Include:

  • A No Prize outcome
  • A Prize outcome

When a user opens a box:

  • They should clearly see whether they won or not
  • The result should match the configured prize logic

⚠️ Important:
Make sure your prize setup aligns with expected participation.
Consider:

  • Instant win rewards
  • Limited prizes
  • Draw-based rewards for scalability

Final Note

Mystery Box is highly effective for creating curiosity-driven engagement. Focus on:

  • Strong visuals
  • Clear outcomes
  • A rewarding user experience
