What a Guess the Word Campaign Can Be Used For
A Guess the Word campaign challenges users to guess a specific word or phrase based on a hint, image, or context. Users enter their guess and instantly find out if it is correct. The experience is quick, engaging, and encourages repeat participation. It is ideal for: Brand engagement campaigns, Product or concept awareness, Interactive promotions, and Viral and shareable experiences.
Setting Up the Campaign
To set up a Guess the Word campaign:
- Go to Elements
- Select Guess the Word
- Drag the game into your campaign flow
From there:
- Choose a template
- Add your design kit
- Configure the game settings
Campaign Flow Setup
After adding the game, open the game section in your campaign flow.
Here, you define:
- The word, number, or code users must enter
- Input behavior and validation
- The overall user experience
Content & Code Setup (Guess the Word / Login Number)
In Scratcher, Guess the Word is also referred to as Login Number, as both use the same setup and functionality.You can configure the input to accept:
- Letters (words)
- Numbers (codes)
- Or a combination of both
Adding Words or Codes
To set up what users need to enter:
- Go to Content β Codes β Manage
Here, you can:
- Upload a file with multiple unique codes
- Or manually create a word or code
Input Field & Messaging
You can customize the text shown below the input field to guide users. This can be used for:
- Instructions
- Hints
- Campaign messaging
Settings
In the Settings section, you define how the input behaves:
- Set a maximum number of characters (up to 20)
- Choose Type of Characters:
- Letters
- Numbers
- Both
- Define Characters per row (maximum 10 per row)
Character Display (Hints)
You can choose to reveal one or more characters to the user. This helps:
- Guide users toward the correct answer
- Improve completion rates
- Create a more engaging experience
Matching Codes and Settings
It is important that your codes match your settings. For example:
- If you allow 8 characters β your codes must also be 8 characters
- If you select numbers only β your codes must be numeric
Codes are managed under:
- Content β Codes β Manage
Validation & Error Messaging
You can define messaging for incorrect entries, such as:
- Wrong word or code entered
- Invalid input
- Access not granted
This ensures users understand what went wrong and how to proceed.
Prizes (Optional Setup)
You can connect prizes to the Guess the Word campaign in different ways:
Draw (Recommended)
- Users who enter the correct word/code are entered into a draw
- Winners are selected after the campaign ends
Direct Win (Advanced Setup)
You can reward users instantly if they guess correctly.
However, be aware:
- If many users guess correctly, you must ensure you have enough prizes
- You will need both:
- A win (prize) page
- A no prize page
This setup requires careful planning.
Campaign Use Cases & Flow
This type of campaign is often used as part of a larger flow:
- As a gate before entering another experience
- As a code validation step
- As a guessing mechanic tied to rewards or draws
Example:
- User enters a correct code β gains access to next step
- User guesses correctly β enters a draw or unlocks a reward
